Details of Ray's Illness and Passing

Ray bravely battled sarcoma cancer, with the prognosis given in August 2023.

At that time, the cancer had metastasized to his pancreas, one kidney, gall bladder, spleen and he harboured a tumour the size of a bag of flour in his stomach.

In September 2023, Ray underwent surgery at the esteemed Lister Hospital in Chelsea. The exceptional medical team, lead by Mr Arjun Shankar (Consultant General Surgeon), successfully removed all the previously mentioned cancerous organs and the tumour from his body.

Ray's recovery journey had its share of highs and lows, but ultimately, he received the all-clear from the surgeons in October 2023.

Despite his progress, Ray faced a setback in November 2023. Another operation, described by the surgeons as "re-plumbing" his kidney due to a fluid build-up, led to the discovery of cancer cells on his remaining kidney.

Regrettably, this time, the cancer proved inoperable and swiftly spread throughout his body. A terminal prognosis was conveyed to the family in November 2023.

Ray was discharged home on the 13th of December 2023 to commence his palliative care. He cherished valuable days at home until his readmission to the Princess Grace Hospital in Baker Street on the 25th of December 2023.

On the 29th of December 2023, Ray was transferred to St. Catherine’s Hospice in Crawley, where the team provided excellent care.

He passed away peacefully on the 5th of January 2024, surrounded by comfort and compassionate support.
